Ghulat Wars

The Ghulat Wars were a series of conflicts first fought between the invading army of Shaytan and the Djinn. It eventually expanded to include forces from the Celestial Pantheons and Faerie Courts in an effort to contain the rapidly expanding hordes. In total the wars lasted roughly 120,000 years, give or take 500.

The Set Up

As life flourished for Djinn on Kaf, another near forgotten race of jinn known as the Shaytan were extracting various resources on their homeworld and solar system. With their progress they were able to create an armed spacefleet designed to establish an interstellar empire. Ever expanding, they set their sights on Kaf’s solar system and planed to add it to their collection.

The Wars

At first the Shaytan did reconnaissance on the lifeforms of Kaf and attempted to subtly exract the planets resources to weaken the populous into submission. Natives like Djinn and Dieties were on to their schemes and thus the evil spirits switched to invading aggressively. The Kaf forces countered and along with the Seelie and Unseelie Courts of faye and years of rapidly developing technology. The wars were named after the fact that the Shaytan primarily used varieties of Ghuls, as their fighting force, the undead remnants of their opponent’s and even their own fallen in battle.

Aftermath

The millennia of both sides advancing technology and extracting resources put major strain on both Kaf and Qarin. In the end, the entire Ghul fleet was destroyed and most infectious curses like vampirism and lycanthropy were effectively eradicated. The cost for the natives however resulted in serious environmental destruction setting off periods of serial natural disasters. The results of which resulted in the extinction of many magical beasts and faye. The Original World Tree also fell, but fortunately it was able to spread it seeds to create new trees around the world. This lead to the creation of Kaf’s ley lines.
The destruction of major spirit realms and the natural environments of both Kaf and Qarin lead the gods to question their priorities and effectiveness during the conflicts. This culminated in the Samsara Pilgrimages, in which left most patron deities leaving their rule to be reborn as mortal beings, changing the dynamic between divine and non-divine beings.
